Welcome to Regulatory Services

Regulatory
We monitor time restricted parking throughout the district in order to facilitate the flow of parking space availability, particularly in high demand CBD areas. This is supported through educating and enforcing the rules where necessary to all road users to park legally and hopefully, to find the parking space they need.
Our Environmental Health Team's regulatory role is to promote, protect and improve the health of our community, through the application of various legislative requirements which include:
- The Food Act 1981 & Food Hygiene Regulations 1974
- Sale of Liquor Act 1989
- Control of Liquor in Public Places Bylaw 2009
- The Health Act 1956
- Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980
- Camping-grounds Regulations 1985
The vibrancy of our district is attributed to the wide range of entertainment venues we have including bars, restaurants and clubs . Where there is the ‘sale and supply’ of alcohol to the public a licence is required.
The Dog and Animal Control services include general advice, Patrolling the community, lost and found services, registration, help with problem animals and education programmes.
We work closely with other agencies such as the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPCA), local veterinarians and dog behaviourists to try and ensure we can provide the best service to our community.
